A Cabbagetown Tradition Since 1988

Founded by photographer and long-time Cabbagetown resident Randy Brown, who retired in 2022, the annual Cabbagetown Art & Crafts Show has become a much-loved event in this historical neighbourhood. The show attracts visitors from all over the province to Riverdale Park West on the weekend after Labour Day. It’s an outdoor gallery where discerning art and craft lovers can experience the juried exhibits, talk to the artists, designers and artisans and buy one-of-a-kind pieces from some of Canada’s most creative talent. 

Exhibitor tents line the park’s walkways, welcoming thousands of visitors over two-and-a-half days the weekend. Overarching trees provide shade, there’s lots of an interesting delicious selection of food for sale and there are park benches and picnic tables for family gatherings picnics. We can’t wait to welcome you to our community. See you in September!

Our Values

Cabbagetown Art & Crafts is a community-based, not-for-profit corporation, which benefits many local charitable organizations. The vision of our founder, Randy Brown, was Our commitment is to support art and craft creators, to encourage appreciation of the visual arts, to give artists a place to showcase and sell their work, and to support our community. Although he retired in 2022, Randy’s vision continues through the passion and commitment of the new Board and Executive. TAs well as promoting Canadian artists, this not-for-profit event generates funding that allows us to give back to our Cabbagetown community and helps support its important causes.

A Juried Show

Each year, prospective exhibitors submit their applications to an expert panel of jurors — fellow artists with a deep knowledge of the creative landscape in Canada. It’s the jury’s selections that determine who will exhibit their work at the Cabbagetown Art & Crafts Show in September. The jurying process ensures that the show consistently hosts the highest quality, most innovative, skilled and creative art every year. The result is a weekend full of arts in a unique park. A place where a community of professional creators meets audiences of passionate art and crafts lovers who fully appreciate outstanding creativity.

Community

The built heritage of Cabbagetown is the ideal location to celebrate the importance of creativity within communities. Nestled in the heart of the city and surrounded by greenspace, this vibrant neighbourhood is full of artists and creators. The Cabbagetown Art & Crafts Show is a much-anticipated annual event in Riverdale Park West, bordered on two sides by rows of heritage Victorian houses. To the north sit the High Gothic architecture and majestic trees of Toronto Necropolis. To the east, Riverdale Farm — loved by generations – is home to horses, goats, cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, a century farmhouse, gardens and wooded walkways.
